We take copying machines for granted here in the US. Anyone can make copies -en-mass, either in the office, the home, or at a Kinkos or like establishment. As a result of this, every American knows what a photocopy looks like.

This is not the case in the developing world. One can choose from any number of nations to relocate to, set up a copying machine, and start printing that nation’s currency. Most of these nations probably lack the counterfeit detection measures in place in the US. This, coupled with the fact most of these foreign denizens have never seen or felt a photocopy, makes it easy to quite literally make money. Most of these people may not even know the technology exists. In no time you will have large sums of passable forged money.

Being American helps too; people abroad think Americans are rich. After all, we can afford printers and copiers.

The plan is not without its flaws. Many of these countries will have, at best, spotty electricity. Regimes will change often so you will be doing a lot of reprinting and redesigning as different dictators, warlords, and juntas seize power and change the national currency.

Should your printer break down you may need to travel 3 days by donkey, to where anyone who has seen a copying machine lives and can help.

Regardless, it will be a fun vacation. The only cash you will need to spend (other than airfare) you can print. Just don’t get caught counterfeiting because you can’t bribe your way out of a foreign jail with fake money. Or maybe you can? Worst case scenario, print yourself a pardon and exit visa.

COPY MACHINES THROUGH THE YEARS

When copy machines were first introduced, they were those big bulky things which people find hard to push around from one space to another. As the years progressed, a lot of innovations had been introduced, the most recent of which is that copy machines are no longer confined to those big, bulky machines. Companies have now integrated the copying function in most printers which is why there are now multi-functional printers. In this way, people may reproduce documents in their very own homes and it would not take much space. The only problem is, it consumes too much ink which makes it quite expensive. This is why the use of the traditional copy machine cannot be disregarded altogether. If a large volume needs to be reproduced, it would not be practical to do it on a multifunctional printer as it could best be achieved through the ordinary copy machine. As we can see, unless the ink toners of printers become cheaper, copy machines still have their place in this world.

COLORED OR BLACK AND WHITE?

We know for a given fact that copy machines do just that, make good reproductions of a document we want to be copied. However, there are 2 kinds of copying machines, one is the traditional black and white, while the other is colored. Copying machines which can reproduce in colored variation are more expensive than the ordinary greyscale type. People who are meticulous and want even the shade of color to be exactly copied sometimes resort to copy machines which can make a colored duplicate of the original. This has been proven to be useful in projects by students, or even help employees in their presentations. School sometimes use it when producing activities or letters. If they want to make a good impression, they send out colored copies of their documents and not the mere greyscale types. But no matter which of the two we choose, it still produces the same document because that it is really what it was made for.

When we talk of copy machines, what immediately comes to our mind are those bulky things usually placed in one corner of the room. However, would it be swell to have a portable copy machine which we can carry around? These may be the type of gadget we may see in James Bond movies, but then, it will surely be handy to have one in our bag or pocket, and it will surely be an instant hit all over the world! Though some people are innovative enough to create their own portable copy machine (like using a digital camera), there has been no invention like it introduced in the market. Its about time that someone come up with a brilliant invention such as this one, since copy machines are useful and handy to have around, and are even more effective if we can just place them in our bags or even in our pockets.

Copy machines are kind of expensive, so there is no problem if businesses will resort to buying second had or used copier machines. However, how do we know if the machine we will be getting is a lemon? We do not need to drag along a technician with us every time we shop for a copy machine (though that would be a good idea). But when buying a second hand copier machine, we should always look into the condition of the gadget and check how many documents it had already copied to see if its use had been abused. This can be detected from the counter usually located near the controls, if not inside the machine. People should always be on guard for copier machines which are literally being sold for a song because with all probability, the seller is hiding something. So in buying a used copier machine, we have to be extra vigilant before making the purchase.

Photocopying machines are very helpful to have around in the office. However, though it may come in handy, it poses certain threats to our health. These machines make use of ink toners and emit fumes every time it operates. Moreover, black carbon is accumulated every time it finishes copying a document. Standing near a photocopying machine while the same is in operation is a big no-no as we expose our bodies to certain health risks. Being in close proximity with a photocopying machines gives us the great probability that we inhale these toxic fumes emitted. These fumes, when inhaled, can cause dizziness or even headaches, or if not, the deleterious effects would be seen in the long run. It may not be now but it will surely come out later. So the next time we wait for our document to be copied, keep a safe distance so that we do not expose our bodies to these elements.

If you plan on setting up your own office, do not ever forget to have you own copy machine because it is fast becoming one of the must-haves in business nowadays. Imagine the time wasted just going outside of the office to look for the nearest photocopying machine. You could have done a lot of things with those minutes, or even hours spent just by looking, falling in line, waiting for your document to be copied, and paying for it. Of course, it is good to place this machine in your shopping list of office furniture, if you can afford it.

What we are trying to say is that it is handy to have a photocopying around when one is in business. Let’s face it, making copies of documents does not only happen once but several times. Imagine what would happen if you cannot find a copying machine in the area?
